Melanie joined Cognition in 2016 as the Regional Director responsible for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She has extensive experience in educational leadership, having previously led on international leadership for SSAT and overseen a range of high-profile contracts in the field. She is an experienced Consultant and Commission Leader with a wealth of expertise in delivering complex projects and has led a wide variety of different programmes including various Strategy commissions with a range of schools, colleges, Local Authorities, multi-academy trusts and independent providers.

Her previous track record includes the delivery of major Government contracts as Programme Director, including:
• The ‘Transition to Teaching’ Programme on behalf of the then Training and Development Agency for Schools when Melanie worked with a range of key stakeholders, including the Secretary of State and Schools Minister and a board of high-profile companies. She led the detailed design and implementation of the programme which involved working with employers to identify and support staff who may be interested in at career in teaching.
• The ‘Tomorrow’s Heads’ Programme on behalf of the National College for Teaching and Leadership: Working in collaboration with IoE and the Future Leaders team, Melanie established the initial intensive programme for talented individuals with the potential to fast track into the most senior school leadership roles.
• The ‘Developing Leaders’ Programme in collaboration with the Welsh Assembly Government: Melanie led the design and development of a two-year leadership programme for teachers in Wales in the early stages of their career, supported by Headteachers and leading academics.

More recently, Melanie led on the education strategy for the new Lusail City in Qatar, developing the strategic plans for more than 35 new schools across all ages and working with some of the top international education providers in the world.

She is particularly skilled in leading multi-disciplinary teams and engaging wide ranging stakeholders whilst catering for competing needs.
